Owner Resource
Hurricane season checklist.
Pre-storm and post-storm steps every Florida Keys owner should know — the same checklists our Home Managers run for members.
The Season
Know the timeline before you need it.
June 1 — Season opens
Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30. Review your insurance policies, photograph your property inside and out, and confirm your shutter hardware is complete and accounted for.
Before a storm is named
Service your generator, test pumps, trim trees and palms, and make sure your vendors and home manager have current access instructions. The time to prepare is when the sky is blue.
Storm watch issued
Begin the pre-storm checklist below. Outdoor furniture, docks and boats take the longest — start there. Photograph everything once secured; these photos matter for insurance.
Storm warning issued
Finish securing the property and evacuate when Monroe County orders it. The Keys have one road out — do not wait. Your home manager takes over from here.
After the storm passes
Do not return until officials allow re-entry. Your home manager performs the post-storm inspection, documents any damage with photos, and coordinates emergency repairs and insurance claims.
